I am Dr. Sharon Campbell-Phillips. I am from Trinidad and Tobago. I am brave, outspoken, outgoing, ambitious, passionate, resilient, and caring, and have a great sense of humor. I am an internationally recognized researcher, an editor with the Open Journal of Educational Research, a certified Reviewer, a mentor with Publons Research Academy, and a published author of fourteen (14) Scholarly articles and forty-two (42) books. I grew up in a broken home and experienced extreme poverty as a child. My world was crushed at a very tender age; so, I was very shy and had low self-esteem. However, even as a child, I knew I had greatness within me, and so, as I grew older, I began exploring, trying to find myself. The journey was extremely rough, and difficult was the way. However, despite the many challenges, I continued to push along, still struggling but very determined to make a change. I became a mother and wife very young but kept praying that god will work it out and that things will get better.
As time passed, I began understanding who I am but still was unsure of my purpose, my gifts, and my talents. On this journey, I had many experiences; some sad, some happy, some scary, and some exciting. One of my greatest challenges was not having an educational background, so I had to push really hard to achieve what I desired. I attempted many things, including various skills, which became my way of living, but I was not totally satisfied, therefore, I kept on the pursuit of happiness. Struggling to get a job due to lack of education, I was self-taught, and successfully completed examinations thatafforded the opportunity to enter college. There I developed a passion for reading. I read almost everything I came into contact with. I loved reading Enid Blyton’s books and wanted to become a great writer like her.
Along the way, I discovered my many talents, and so, I have a new outlook on life. One of my greatest talents was discovered in 2019. It is the gift of writing! This gift started a very long time ago, over fifteen (15) years, when I was engaged in a lot of church activities, where I would write skits, monologues, and poems, however, that talent was not recognized; I just thought that I was very good with words. It was more than just being good with words. It is raw talent! This GOLDEN college opportunity added so much value to my life, and I have since upgraded and completed the highest level of education, a Doctorate degree, and I am now pursuing a Post-Doctorate degree. I have also received scholarships, and have been awarded internationally for my outstanding writing. I am the first person in the Caribbean to receive an award from RULA, (and the only person in Trinidad and Tobago) as an International Distinguish Researcher, I have received an Outstanding Psychologist’s award from the Asia Awards, powered by RULA and I am to receive Women in Leadership awards from the Queens Book Award, powered by Queen Times in November 2023. I also have many great opportunities to become the best version of myself.
Due to my many challenges, I was determined to be the next success story, I wanted to be the next Black Woman on the rise, and so, when I started my Doctorate degree, by then I was very confident. I completed a series of courses and got straight As, and my thesis was also well-written and defended, therefore, I completed the program with a 4:00 GPA. My experience was awesome; I have turned my dreams into reality….I AM A SUCCESS STORY!When I was notified about the Queens Book award, I wasn’t surprised, I was very excited, knowing that I am accomplishing greatly. An award is an honor, prize, or acknowledgment mark bestowed in honor of an accomplishment and I feel much honored to share in this precious moment. Being nominated for yet another award just confirms that on this journey of life, there are no limits, only those we place on ourselves. I am thrilled with excitement to share my accomplishments with others and to encourage all of us to embrace our dreams and our unique talents. I AM ELATED!
